(Yicai Global) Aug 26 -- Chinese microblogging website Weibo Corp. [NYSE:WB], owned by online media company Sina Corp., will use unmanned aerial vehicles developed by DJI Technology Co. to launch live webcasts on Weibo.
The app DJI Go lets hosts control the images being taken overhead by the drone, while at the same time allowing the recording of clean sound from the host directly into the mobile phone. The video can be streamed live on Weibo.
Weibo will partner with dozens of mainstream media organizations including the People's Daily, China Central Television News and Xinhua as well as interactive live show apps such as Yizhi Bo, and provide training on how to use the drones to broadcast live webcasts in their program content.
Shenzhen-based DJI also has affiliations with other social media websites such as Facebook Live, Youtube and Periscope. Over 2,000 people host live webcasts using DJI drones on Facebook Live every day, and the figure is constantly rising.
In June Weibo became China's first webcast platform to grant live broadcasting protocol to the media and to hardware manufacturers. More than 300 live broadcasts are released by Chinese media on Weibo every day.
