Siemens Is In Talks on Adapting New AI Engineering Software for China Market Siemens Is In Talks on Adapting New AI Engineering Software for China Market

(Yicai) Sept. 26 -- German industrial giant Siemens has unveiled its first generative artificial intelligence product for the industrial sector at the China International Industry Fair and is in discussions with Chinese partners on getting it ready for local release.

Siemens is in contact with Chinese large language model developers on adapting the software to the local market, Nicholas Hansen, general manager of strategy, product, and digitalization at Siemens China Digital Industries Factory Automation, told Yicai at the CIIF yesterday.

He did not reveal any names, but said an announcement would be made in the near future. The new software is not yet ready for deployment in China, mainly because Siemens wants to be sure to offer a generative AI solution tailored to the needs of Chinese users, he pointed out.

Industrial Copilot for Engineering integrates generative AI technology with automation engineering processes, helping engineers reduce repetitive work, increase productivity, and shorten development times, Hansen said.

It is still early days for the use of generative AI in the industrial domain, Wang Haibin, executive vice president at Siemens China, told Yicai. Industrial Copilot for Engineering is Siemens’ first generative AI application in the field, so there is still much room for progress, Wang added.

Co-built by Munich-based Siemens and Microsoft, the product had its global debut at this year’s Hannover Messe, a world-leading industrial trade fair. The 24th CIIF in Shanghai is the first time it is being exhibited in China.
