(Yicai Global) Aug. 22 -- Heavy rains struck many places in Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province on Aug. 20, affecting 12,700 people in 11 townships and villages in five counties, including Wenchuan, scene of a devastating earthquake in 2008.

The picture shows flooding and a mudslide in Maidigou, Yanmen town, Wenchuan county on Aug. 20.

Rain-triggered disasters had killed eight, left 23 missing and injured six people as of 4 a.m. yesterday. The picture shows a suspension bridge ripped apart by the flood in Sanjiang town, Wenchuan county.

The heavy rainfall damaged another bridge on the Shouxi river in Shuimo town, Wenchuan county yesterday.

Victims of the torrential rain disaster in Yingxiu town of Wenchuan county ironically sought shelter in the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Epicenter Yingxiu Memorial yesterday.
