(Yicai Global) Nov. 5 -- China's southern hi-tech metropolis of Shenzhen is to release over 30 square kilometers of land to attract global investment and shape the city into an important technological and industrial hub, local news website Sznews reported today.
The plots will target innovative industries including design, research and development as well as manufacturers in new tech sectors such as display devices, artificial intelligence, biomedicine and integrated circuits, the city government said at a press conference. Industrial innovation centers and national laboratories will also be favored.
About 25 sq. km of land within Shenzhen city and five sq. km in the Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone will be made available. The biggest piece of land covers 4.8 sq. km and there are over nine plots with an area greater than one sq. km.
More details will be released at a global investment conference due to be held in the city in mid-December, said Nie Xinping, director of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission.
