Shenzhen Makes 80% of World's E-Wearables, Study Finds

 (Yicai Global) April -- China's southern megacity of Shenzhen produces about 80% of global wearable electronics as the largest research and development and production center for these items.

Shipments in the country's wearable market grew 28.5 percent to 73.21 million units last year from 2017, per a report released on April 20 by the China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute, which is under the nation's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The top five producers are Xiaomi, Huawei Technologies, Apple, Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications, Vivo Communication Technology's parent company BBK Electronics and Qihoo 360 Technology.

Headphones and smart watches are the most popular offerings.
