(Yicai Global) June 4 -- Chinese mainland stock markets continued their slide in afternoon trading, with the Shenzhen Component Index plumbing its lowest point since February 25.
Trading was torpid and the volume was low.
The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.96 percent at 2,862.28 as the curtain fell, while the Shenzhen Component Index finished 1.23 percent lower at 8,748.27 at the buzzer, the index went as low as 8697.49 intraday, a level not seen for more than three months.
The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed down 0.87 percent at 1,456.27.
