(Yicai Global) Oct. 17 -- Shanghai will host the China Intelligent Car Competition in December, the biggest event of its kind in China.

Judges will assess each team on algorithmic design, information identification, calculation and decision, and control and execution, as Jiemian.com reported.

The competition will run from Dec. 11 to Dec. 13 in a closed-off test area of National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Shanghai) Pilot Zone and Shanghai Formula 1 International Race Track, the competition's organizers announced at a press conference yesterday.

This year's event will encompass Downhill-Assisted Control (DAC), fully-autonomous control (FAC), idle-speed control (ISC) and vehicle-system control (VSC) competitions.

Over 30 test scenarios will challenge the driverless competition, including wet roads, traffic congestion and four other perturbing factors involving vehicles, pedestrians, global-positioning satellite (GPS) and electro-magnetism (EM), as well as adverse weather conditions.

The FAC competition will run on Shanghai F1 International Race Track with two separate types of obstacle races and speed races.
