(Yicai Global) Jan. 17 -- The Shanghai stock market's opening nosed ahead of Shenzhen's.

The Shanghai Composite Index kicked off 0.12 percent higher at 2,573.58 points. The Shenzhen Component Index set off from 7,7534.04 points, 0.09 percent lower than yesterday's close.

The ChiNext Index, China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, opened 0.04 percent higher at 1,267.82 points.

Glass Makers' stocks led the gains, beginning nearly 1 percent up, but shares linked to the Xiongan New Area -- the development hub for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei special economic zone, which Chinese President Xi inspected yesterday -- ebbed from their gains yesterday to lead the losers.
