(Yicai Global) Dec. 14 – Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club of China Super League has reportedly offered EUR40 million (USD42.5 million)per year to Carlos Tévez, 32-year-old Argentinian football player who played in Europe's leading leagues such as the English Premier League and Italy's Serie A.
Goal.com, a football news website, quoted Carlos Tévez on Dec. 9 as saying, "Nothing is decided yet." He said he was tempted either to continue to play for the Argentinian club Boca or to retire, according to Goal.com.
Tévez is a well-known striker in football circles, having played in top football clubs such as Manchester United and Manchester City of the Premier League as well as Juventus in Italy's Serie A. He was awarded the Premier League Golden Boot as the top goal scorer in 2010-11 football season. He also had more than 75 caps with the Argentinian national football team.
Gus Poyet, the newly-appointed head coach of Shanghai Shenhua, said he hopes that the club can transfer Tévez. "The club has consulted with me, and of course I do hope that Tévez can join us. Nevertheless, everything is still pending now and we have to wait. Apparently, the club is interested in him and negotiating with him. It would be great if we can sign him," he said. Like Tevez, Poyet also served in the Premier League previously, having coached Sunderland football club.
