Shanghai's Private Sector Donates 100,000 Face Masks to Pakistan Shanghai's Private Sector Donates 100,000 Face Masks to Pakistan

(Yicai Global) May 28 -- The Shanghai European and American Alumni Association and Shanghai Debao Medical Equipment jointly donated 100,000 disposable protective masks to Pakistan on May 22.

The masks will be delivered to the country’s National Disaster Management Authority for distribution to the Pakistani people.

All material aid shipped from China is done so under the auspices of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu, so Shanghai-based donors must first transport the materials to the distant southwestern megacity.

Covid-19 is still spreading in South Asia, though the pandemic has eased elsewhere. Pakistan had 1,003 newly diagnosed cases compared with the previous day and 60,154 cases in total, including 1,239 deaths as of zero hour today, local media reported.

Debao Medical Equipment produces disposable three-ply masks and nanofiber masks that have received certification from the US Food and Drug Association. Its daily capacity exceeds 800,000 units.

The Shanghai European and American Alumni Association is a non-governmental organization originally formed in 1919 by local scholars who returned from study abroad.
