(Yicai) Feb. 17 -- Shanghai has hosted its first job fair since the end of the Chinese New Year holiday, offering a total of about 26,000 positions.
More than 1,000 employers attended the job fair that took place at a main venue and 15 branches across Shanghai on Feb. 14. The job offers included high-tech positions in industries such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence, as well as others in elderly care and household services.
Shanghai’s rapid scientific and technological development has led to the emergence of a large number of research, development, and technology-related positions, Zhou Guoliang, director of the Shanghai Employment Promotion Center, told Yicai, adding that the overall employment situation in the city is quite good.
The job fair's main venue set a special area where 11 birth-friendly employers offered women who are in pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding periods about 350 jobs with special benefits, such as flexible working hours and dedicated childcare rooms, including union manager, product designer, livestreaming host, and foreign language translator.
"Birth-friendly positions can provide more opportunities for mothers seeking jobs," Zhou noted. "This not only reflects the warmth of Shanghai, but can also guide more socially responsible enterprises to follow suit."
Moreover, the job fair also offered popular services, such as artificial intelligence employment experience, one-on-one career consultation and guidance, and AI-simulated interviews, which help job seekers improve their adaptability, expression, and thinking abilities during job interviews.
"Job seekers can improve their abilities by participating in internships and job-seeking skill training camps," Zhou suggested. "Meanwhile, employers should continue to improve their staff training systems."
