(Yicai Global) Oct. 30 -- China UnionPay Co. is accelerating the promotion of its transport payment service system. A two-dimensional code jointly launched by China UnionPay and Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co. (SSMG) is put into official use for ticket payments on the maglev metro line in Shanghai today, cnstock.com reported.
Shanghai residents and visitors can download the "Metro" app and register to open their subway accounts via their smartphones. Before taking the maglev metro, they just need to open the app and scan the two-dimensional code to pass the turnstile, and the fee will be deducted from the funds deposited in their accounts. A UnionPay bank credit card can also be used for payment in the future.
China UnionPay has taken the transport industry as a springboard to develop innovative payment methods this year, striving to make people's travel more convenient and time-saving. So far, China UnionPay has offered multiple payment solutions such as two-dimensional barcode payment, UnionPay mobile phone QuickPass, and UnionPay chip card QuickPass to help the transport industry meet diversified and personalized needs of cardholders for travel.
China UnionPay mobile payment solution is used in transport industry in many cities across China. Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province, has taken the lead to introduce China UnionPay QuickPass in more than 6,000 turnstiles in all subway stations across the city. The QuickPass and two-dimensional code payment services have also gradually covered the bus and subway transportation in such cities as Fuzhou in southeastern province of Fujian and Hangzhou in East China's Zhejiang province. Airport parking lots, high-speed railway station parking lots and other transportation facilities in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangdong, and Xinjiang province also accept the same payment system.
