(Yicai Global) Nov. 3 -- Except for special areas, all roads in Jiading district in Shanghai will be open for trials of intelligent connected vehicles by the end of the year, according to the party secretary of the Shanghai Jiading District Committee.

Jiading will be the first district to start ICV tests on expressways, including the G1503 Shanghai Ring Road and G2 Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Lu Fangzhou said yesterday at the 2022 Global Cities Forum.

As one of the five emerging districts in Shanghai, Jiading plans to achieve full coverage of intelligent transportation by 2025, a 30-minute commute to downtown Shanghai, a 40-minute commute to neighboring districts, and a 45-minute commute to cities around Shanghai, Lu noted.

By the end of the year, Jiading will complete the construction of cooperative vehicle infrastructure for more than 170 kilometers of testing roads, involving 208 intersections with intelligent sensing systems and supporting infrastructures.

Fifty holographic intersections to create a traffic data intelligent processing system to provide application scenarios supporting traditional traffic participants, connected vehicles, and self-driving cars will be also built based on over 50 km of roads in the Jiading Auto City area.

Last year, Shanghai initiated the construction of five districts, Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian, and Nanhui, into independent integrated cities within the following five years.

The 2022 Global Cities Forum is an important event of the 'World Cities Day 2022 Global Event and the Second International Conference on Urban Sustainability,' co-organized by the Development Research Center of Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Management Committee.
