(Yicai) Sept. 27 -- Shanghai has topped Chinese cities by the number of local new energy companies, according to the third edition of the Hurun China New Energy Cities ranking.
Shanghai was also the city with the highest concentration of high-quality new energy firms and high-end new energy talents in China, according to the list released by Hurun Research Institute yesterday.
Shenzhen, Changzhou, Suzhou, and Guangzhou completed the top five by the number of new energy companies, while Beijing, Wuxi, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Wuhan ranked sixth through tenth.
Jiangsu province's output of new energy vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and solar cells accounted for 9.2 percent, 15.3 percent, and 36.2 percent of China's total, respectively, said Vice Governor Chen Zhongwei. Related exports continued to rank first in the country, Chen added.
East China had 25 out of the 50 cities on the list, with 10 being in Jiangsu. Among them, Changzhou climbed one place from a year earlier while ranking first by investment concentration for the third straight year.
