(Yicai) May 10 -- A China-made electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, the world’s most powerful fuel cell stack and the first homegrown giant cruise ship are among the state-of-the-art products by 30 Shanghai companies which will go on display or get introduced at the 2024 China Brand Day that kicked off today in Shanghai
Chinese air taxi startup Vertaxi will showcase its M1 eVTOL aircraft, that uses locally made core components, at the event, which runs until May 15. The five-seat manned aircraft can fly 250 kilometers at a cruising speed of up to 200 km per hour. It will mainly be used for intra- and inter-city transport and can shorten a two-to-three-hour car drive to a journey of less than half an hour.
Fuel cell developer Shanghai H-Rise New Energy Technology will display the world’s most powerful fuel cell stack, a 300-kW stack with a volumetric specific energy density of 6.2 kW/L. It is mainly for use by heavy-duty trucks and can be extended to sectors that need to reduce carbon emissions, such as rail transport, inland water transport and engineering machinery.
Adora Cruises, operator of the first China-made large cruise ship Adora Magic City, will also participate in the event. Set up by China State Shipbuilding Corp. and the US’ Carnival Corp. in 2018, the Shanghai-based firm has seized 70 percent of China’s cruise market.
The Adora Magic City, which sailed its maiden voyage on Jan. 1, had made 30 voyages and carried nearly 130,000 passengers as of May 5. And its other giant cruise ship, Costa Mediterranea, has carried nearly 80,000 passengers since it started operations last September.
