(Yicai Global) May 6 -- Shanghai Disneyland will reopen on May 11, the theme park's operator announced today.

The theme park will implement safe and health procedures, such as density control, social distancing, masks requirements, as well as advance reservations for entry to ensure safety, the Shanghai Disney Resort said in the statement posted to its account on Tencent Holding’s popular WeChat messaging app.

Visitors can buy tickets starting 8.00 a.m. on May 8 and a limited number will be available online and through official travel partner channels to control density within the park, per the statement. On-site ticket sales will be temporarily suspended.

Some attractions and experience areas with frequent interactions, such as children's play zones and theater performances, will be temporarily closed over safety concerns.

Disney's theme parks in China, including Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland, have been closed since January amid the threat of COVID-19 spreading.

The coronavirus' estimated impact on the US entertainment giant's income from continuing operations before income taxes was as much as USD1.4 billion during the second quarter for fiscal 2020, The Walt Disney Company said today. Shanghai Disneyland will lose about USD135 million.
