(Yicai Global) May 11 -- After a four-month shutdown, Shanghai Disneyland has opened its doors again today as the world's first Disney theme park to do so amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Many Disney characters were present to welcome visitors to enter the park on the special reopening day to which tickets had been sold out. The park has to limit the number of visitors every day to follow local safety guidelines.
The beloved characters of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as well as Donald and Daisy Duck, were greeting visitors by the gates.
Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, presided at the ceremony.
The rides were open.
Some visitors were donning Minnie Mouse merchandise.
Mickey Mouse got to enjoy the rides too.
Staff members held signs to remind visitors to keep their distance from strangers.
People were expected to line up in designated spots to mitigate possible safety risks.
