(Yicai Global) Aug. 25 -- The nine-month-old Shanghai Data Exchange launched its new digital assets trading section yesterday and listed its first such asset with a view to spurring innovation and dynamism in the digital economy.
Shanghai-based sports footwear brand Warrior issued ‘Warrior Design Year One’ on Chinese video-sharing platform Bilibili today, with the exchange as the organizer, responsible for information registration and the launch process, it was announced at a press conference yesterday.
Warrior Design Year One consist of 2,022 digital illustrations in six styles that would be given away for free on Bilibili at 12 p.m. local time today. The first 210 users that get the assets also get the right to buy limited edition Warrior sneakers, Bilibili said.
The new trading section will stimulate creativity and vitality in the digital economy, cultivate innovative subjects, and help some traditional businesses in digital transformation, Shan Dongming, an official at the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, told Yicai Global at the briefing.
The section has six asset categories: arts-related derivatives, digital cultural and creative products, consumption-relevant scenarios, brand and marketing, industrial application, and data-related intellectual properties, according to the SDE.
The SGE was set up last November to enable the trading of huge volumes of data in the same way as commodities. The exchange has more than 100 digital products for trade in categories such as finance, transport, communications, and energy, according to its website.
