(Yicai Global) Sept. 12 -- Shanghai Tunnel Engineering has won a SGD465 million (USD337 million) contract to build part of a new subway line in Singapore.

Construction of the new track, named Jurong Regional Line, is scheduled to begin this month and complete in March 2026, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

The engineering, procurement and construction project includes an elevated line about 4.4 kilometers long, the erection of three elevated stations at Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West and Tengah, and the reconstruction and expansion of the north-south tracks in Choa Chu Kang. The company will also demolish the bus interchange and multi-story car park at Choa Chu Kang then rebuild the parking facilities and dig diversion ditches around it.

The Jurong Regional Line will be Singapore's seventh subway track. It includes 24 subway stations and spans 24 kilometers in total. It will open in three phases between 2026 and 2028, according to public information.
