(Yicai) July 4 -- Five projects, including DeepLink, an artificial intelligence open computing system built by Shanghai AI Laboratory, have been given the highest awards at this year's World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

The accolades, called Super AI Leader or Sail Award, were announced as China’s biggest AI conference opened in Shanghai today.

Launched in April, DeepLink is a collaboration platform that aims to create a bridge between AI hardware and software developers. It has provided more than 300 standard operator interfaces so far, supporting over 11,000 operator test cases as well as large language and vision models, according to its website.

The other winners were China Southern Power Grid-developed Yudian, a scientific computing model for transforming power systems; MyScale AI Database from Beijing-based startup Moqi Technology; self driving-related research by Tsingua University; and EcoStruxure AI Module, an energy management and industry automation system, from French firm Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric used its experience in energy management and industrial automation to create EcoStruxure AI Module. It is already used widely in industries such as autos, food, construction, and data centers, the firm said, adding that it boosts production efficiency by an average 3 percent to 5 percent a year, while lowering energy consumption by 5 percent to 10 percent.

Since the WAIC started in 2018, its top award has been given to excellent AI projects each year. This year, it looked at over 200 projects, the organizers revealed. Overseas projects made up 16 percent of the total, the highest share ever, represented by 20 countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
