(Yicai Global) Aug. 29 -- SF Express Co. [SHE:002352] has cooperated well with China Railway Corp. in recent years and will seriously study and actively participate in the operator's reform, the Shenzhen-based courier said while accepting institutional research.

"The company will continue to increase cooperation with China Railway and develop a cargo transport business by utilizing the advantages of low-cost, high-speed railroads," SF Express added yesterday.

In the first half, SF's operating income grew 23.28 percent on the year to USD4.87 billion, while net profit climbed 7.47 percent to USD285 million, the company's interim report showed. Its express and economy services, both pillars of the company, contributed 67.7 percent and 20 percent toward total income, respectively.

China Railway is currently pushing its corporate system reform, The Economic Observer reported on Aug. 23. China Railway Express Co., an affiliate firm, began preparations for the reform in June 2017 and has worked with SF, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], JD.Com Inc. [NASDAQ:JD] and other companies at an operational level.

China dismantled its Ministry of Railway in 2013 and set up China Railway Corporation and the National Railway Administration to separate government functions from enterprise management. However, reports suggest China Railway has failed to make a major breakthrough in its corporate reform after becoming a company.
