(Yicai Global) Feb. 25 -- Seven patients infected with the novel coronavirus were discharged from hospitals in Shanghai this morning after recovering from the disease, according to the Shanghai Health Commission.

A total of 268 patients in the city have now recovered from the disease, about 80 percent of the 335 confirmed cases, the commission said.

One of the patients discharged today was a 69-year-old man surnamed Yang, who was the first patient in the city to fall into critical condition after it was confirmed at Renji Hospital on Jan. 23 that he had the disease.

Yang, a resident of Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, had traveled to Shanghai on Jan. 9 and was staying with his son's family, according to news site The Paper.
