Senegal Is Going All Out For China's Import Expo, Export Czar Says Senegal Is Going All Out For China's Import Expo, Export Czar Says

(Yicai Global) May 14 -- The curtain will rise on the first China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November, and Senegal, which is in amid a period of rapid economic growth, will actively participate.

China and the West African nation have already formed close cooperation in many areas, and the upcoming fair will bring further opportunities for both via expanded exchanges.

The Senegalese Export Agency, which is vigorously working to promote the expo, will select quality firms to attend it, while government agencies will also attend at the national exhibition space, said Dr. Malick Diop, managing director of the Senegalese Export Promotion Agency.

Economic exchanges between China and Senegal have developed rapidly in recent years, Diop explained, citing agriculture as an example. Senegal exported almost no peanuts to China five years, but it has now become the latter's number one source country, with the quality of its pressed peanut oil very high.

Senegal's top export is seafood, in the form of both shellfish and fish. Its other exports are gold, titanium and zircon.

China and Senegal have developed extensive cooperation in many areas and, of the 27 infrastructure revitalization construction projects planned, many are being built by Chinese firms, including those with the greatest scale, such as the Thies-Tuba Highway and the country's National Stadium.

The cooperation between China and Senegal will not stop there, Diop said. As long as the two continue to deepen their cooperation, the more it will continue to develop, he added.
