(Yicai Global) March 22 -- Zhejiang Semir Garment Co. has teamed up with United States kidswear maker The Children's Place International Inc. to design and distribute clothes under the brand within Greater China.
The pair signed a brand licensing and development agreement in Shanghai, Semir Garment said in a statement. Under the deal, the licensee will be authorized to use trademarks and intellectual property belonging to The Children's Place in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for the next 20 years.
The US make and Semir Garment's Balabala are the biggest children's wear brands in North American and China, the statement added. The union will help consolidate the Asian firm's leading position in its home country and improve its influence across the international market, it said.
Semir Garments will procure products from The Children's Place and independently design and manufacture clothing under the US brand to meet demand in the Chinese market. It will sell through direct sales, retail and e-commerce channels, it added, saying the license fees it pays will be based on income.
