(Yicai Global) Aug. 2 -- Korean electronics manufacturing megalith Samsung Electronics Co. [KS:005930] restructured its China-based business organization in August in a bid to turn around its smart phones' declining sales in the country, Korea media reported.
Samsung Electronics shut down seven points of sales in North, East, South, Middle, Southwest, Northwest and Northeast China and replaced them with 22 more segmentation bases.
No downsizing is involved in this restructure, the Korea Herald reported today.
With the rise of domestic cell phones in China, and the continuing influence of the Galaxy Note 7's explosive tendencies and consequent recall, the market share of Samsung cell phones in China has dropped to 5 percent from 19.7 percent in 2013. The home appliance business is lackluster as well. The total share of Samsung and LG Corp. [KS:003550] in China's home appliance market was less than 5 percent last year.
