(Yicai Global) Aug. 13 -- Russia intends to provide Chinese investors with a large amount of land for agricultural projects, according to an investment manager at government-backed nonprofit organization Russian Far East Investment and Export Agency.
"We want to express our great hope that Chinese industrial and commercial groups will make investments in agricultural products' processing, meat, dairy products and other food production businesses," the manager surnamed Dubrovsky told Russian news agency called Moscow on Aug. 10, adding that the available resources involve one million hectares of land. 'The Far East is well known for its ecologically clean and quality products in China."
Russia's eastern regions boast a rich array of land resources, of which about eight million hectares are designated for agricultural purposes and three million hectares for cultivation, leaving some one-third of the area still underdeveloped.
Chinese investors have financed some agricultural projects in the Far East, including soybean cultivation, construction of food distribution facilities, and dairy farming.
