(Yicai Global) March 8 -- Photovoltaic panels produced by Trina Solar and Jinko Solar are passing customs clearance in the United States without problems or difficulties, Yicai Global learned from the two leading Chinese makers.
“Our customs clearance has been normal since the third quarter of 2022,” Trina Solar said yesterday, while Jinko Solar said US customs procedures have improved since the end of last year.
US Customs and Border Protection seized more than 1,000 batches of solar equipment between June 21 and Oct. 25, 2022. Sources at listed Chinese PV module makers confirmed to Yicai Global that some Chinese companies were caught up in that.
On March 6, an official at the White House said that the United States had begun to release solar panels imported from China. Those stuck at customs or waiting to be shipped to the country were allowed to go through customs clearance, the official added.
The US imported nearly 4.3 gigawatts of solar cell modules in December, up 200 percent from a year earlier and 23 percent from the previous month, US customs data showed.
With a deeper understanding of US policies, the customs clearance process is expected to be gradually smoother for Chinese companies this year, Huachuang Securities reported. At the same time, as the US is traditionally a high-price region for PV modules, the recovery of demand will further improve the profitability of related Chinese companies.
Institutions are also optimistic about the customs clearance of battery modules.
