(Yicai Global) Dec. 9 -- Prestigious Chinese business college Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is investigating its Associate Professor Qian Fengsheng for alleged sexual harassment, it announced on Dec. 6.

Qian has resigned from three listed firms as an independent director and auditor for personal reasons, these firms announced separately today.

A female postgraduate student from the university's School of Accounting posted a notice on social media on Dec. 6 that Qian, who is on the department's faculty, sexually harassed her and that she had reported his alleged misdeeds to the university, per media reports. The institution, which has detailed a team to look into the incident, pledged to "punish him in accordance with laws and regulations if the investigation finds him guilty," it said in a statement appearing on its account on China's Twitter-like Weibo on Dec. 6.

Qian served concurrently was an independent director and held auditing positions in the listed companies China National Building Materials Group, Shanghai Hanbell Precise Machinery, Shanghai Tofflon Science and Technology, Shanghai Tongji Science and Technology Industrial and Northeast Electric Development.

China National Building Materials Group, Shanghai Tofflon Science and Technology and Shanghai Hanbell Precise Machinery have all announced Qian's resignation for personal reasons, while the other two firms have yet to issue statements.
