(Yicai Global) Sept. 20 -- Luxembourg hopes to boost employment in the country through cooperation with China's internet giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] on digital technology, said Xavier Bettel, prime minister (PM) of the EU-member country, after a meeting with Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group.

Luxembourg PM Bettel posted a photo of him with Jack Ma on his official Twitter account, saying, "Great pleasure to welcome Mr. Jack Ma @AlibabaGroup in the Luxembourg House in NYC."

Luxembourg is the first country in Europe to cooperate with Alibaba's credit scoring service for individual visa applicants, Jack Ma was quoted by TechWeb, online media outlet, as saying. Both sides will continue to cooperate on digital technology and Belt and Road Initiative, Ma added.

Sesame Credit (Zhima Xinyong in Chinese), the user data-based online credit scoring service by Ant Financial Services Group, financial services arm of Alibaba Group, rolls out 'credit-based visa application' service, through which users can apply for visas of Luxembourg, Singapore and other countries with relevant credit and credit report on Sesame without having to submit asset proof documents such as certificate of assets, employment certificates or registered permanent residence.

Schengen, birthplace of Europe without borders, which gave its name to a common visa policy carried out by 22, out of 28, EU member states plus four non-EU countries, is a small town in southeast Luxembourg.
