(Yicai Global) Sept. 5 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping told Argentine President Mauricio Macri he hopes China will have soccer players like Mr. Lionel Messi and Mr. Diego Maradona in the next 20 years, with the help of the South American country, Argentine newspaper La Nacion reports.
President Macri said it would take a long time, but he would be happy to offer assistance if required, the paper said. Presidents Xi and Macri met at the G20 Summit meeting in the ancient Chinese city of Hangzhou.
The two leaders agreed a soccer cooperation deal, under which Chinese players and coaches will receive training at Argentina's two leading soccer clubs, River Plate and Boca, in the next few months.
President Xi, a passionate soccer fan, was given Mr. Messi's No. 10 jersey as a gift during his visit to Argentina in 2014.
