(Yicai Global) Dec. 14 -- A unit of Power Construction Corporation of China, a state-owned infrastructure contractor also known as PowerChina, will design and build Laos’ first wind power project for USD717 million.
PowerChina International Group will develop the 600-megawatt project in the southeast Asian country’s Sekong and Attapeu provinces, its parent firm said yesterday. Construction work will take 28 months.
PowerChina International is the world’s biggest electrical engineering contractor.
The electricity generated by the project will be mostly transmitted to Vietnam to ease a shortage in that country’s central region, Chinese energy news website Cpnn reported.
