Porsche to Recall Over 42,000 Cars in China Due to Fire Risk Porsche to Recall Over 42,000 Cars in China Due to Fire Risk

(Yicai Global) June 10 -- Porsche, the high-end brand of German automaker Volkswagen, will recall 42,070 of its vehicles imported and sold in China due to potential fire risks.

From Oct. 7, Porsche China Motors will recall the imported Panamera models made between Nov. 1, 2010 and Sept. 13, 2016, the State Administration for Market Regulation said online.

Faulty sealing in the air-conditioner blower control unit means water in the air could cause a short circuit in the unit or a fire in extreme cases. The company will replace the control unit free of charge.

The world's biggest auto market had 327 million car owners last year, while recalls fell almost 38 percent to 12.5 million vehicles, according to figures the watchdog recently released. China started the recall system in 2004.
