(Yicai) Oct. 10 -- China's Pinduoduo reportedly said its cross-border e-commerce platform Temu will not introduce commission fees for sellers.

The policy that allows merchants to open stores without fees and commissions is still effective, the Shanghai-based company told The Paper yesterday.

Temu will collect from merchants a service fee of 0.05 percent on each order they receive, according to a customer service outsourcing agreement. Moreover, the agreement showed that Temu had the right to adjust the fee rate and/or settlement mode depending on industry development and other circumstances.

The agreement clearly states that it aims to clarify the parties' rights and obligations, Pinduoduo noted, adding that merchants' income settlement will not be affected by the signing of the agreement.

Moreover, various Temu sellers said they did not receive any information about the platform's collection of commission fees.

Since its launch in September last year, Temu has expanded to 40 countries and areas in North America, Oceania, Western and Eastern Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Temu was among the world's top 10 most downloaded apps in the second quarter of the year, with 74 million worldwide downloads, up over 100 percent from the previous quarter, according to a report from market researcher Sensor Tower.
