PBOC Weakens Yuan-Dollar Central Parity Rate to 6.7659

(Yicai Global) Feb. 18 --China's central bank has softened the Chinese yuan against the US dollar this morning. 

The People's Bank of China set the central parity rate of yuan against the dollar at 6.7659, which is 36 basis points weaker than on Feb. 15, the previous trading day. The redback may rise or fall by 2 percent from the midpoint each day in China's spot foreign exchange market.

The onshore spot rate opened at 6.7642, 89 basis points stronger than the 6.7731 at the close on Friday. The offshore spot exchange rate was slightly softer at 6.7691 this morning.
