Pakistani Military Deploys Division to Protect China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

(Yicai Global) March 16 -- Pakistan pledges to offer full support for the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, said Pakistani military spokesman, said Asif Ghafoor during press briefing at the Pakistani Embassy in China.

The military has deployed a dedicated division to protect infrastructure facilities and the safety of people working along the economic corridor.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is still being built. It runs from the northern China in Kashi, Xinjiang and ends in Guadal, a port in Southwest Pakistan. The corridor is an integral part of the 'One Belt, One Road' initiative.

Some 19,000 Chinese people are currently working in various construction projects in Pakistan, and the Pakistani government has 'done everything it can' to protect their safety, said Masood Khalid, Panistani Ambassador to China. The Pakistani navy has raised a contingent to guard Guadal port, he said.
