Overseas Investors Express Optimism About China's Bond Market

(Yicai Global) June 11 --  A total of 108 foreign institutional investors entered the Chinese market through bond channels in May with a transaction volume of CNY158.6 billion (USD23 billion) and an average daily trading volume of over CNY7.6 billion, according to official data. Net purchases in the month reached CNY52.2 billion.

Foreign capital has gradually increased buying of Chinese government bonds in recent years, said Xing Ziqiang, chief economist at Morgan Stanley China. The annual inflow of foreign capital to China's bond market is estimated to reach between USD76 billion and USD120 billion, Economic Daily reported.
