(Yicai) Feb. 27 -- More than 4.6 million consumer have registered for vouchers distributed by Shanghai government as part of the first round of this year's dining and tourism consumption coupon lottery.
The number of consumers who signed up for the vouchers on UnionPay Mobile QuickPass, Alipay, and WeChat Pay reached nearly 4.64 million as of the end of Feb. 24, according to official figures announced today.
Shanghai has allocated CNY500 million (USD68.7 million) from its municipal budget to distribute consumption vouchers across four sectors this year, including CNY360 million for dining, CNY90 million (USD12.4 million) for tourism, CNY30 million for films, and CNY20 million for sports.
In the first round, 864,000 dining vouchers were issued across the three payment platforms. They were divided into three tiers: a CNY90 (USD12.40) discount for an order over CNY300 (USD41.30), a CNY180 discount for an order over CNY500, and a CNY400 discount for an order over CNY1,000 (USD137.75).
In addition, more than 3,500 tourism-related businesses were included, exceeding the total number of those participating in last year's tourism and accommodation voucher program. Nearly half of those who entered the tourism coupons’ lottery reside outside Shanghai.
