(Yicai) Sept. 18 -- More than 2,600 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions will attend the 24th China International Industry Fair, matching last year's record.

The five-day CIIF, which will kick off in Shanghai on Sept. 24, has an exhibition area of 280,000 square meters, Li Dong, president of Donghao Lansheng Group, said on Sept. 14. It includes a New Energy Auto, Robotics, New Material Industry, Industrial Automation, and five other shows, he added.

Japanese electrical equipment maker Mitsubishi Electric, Swedish-Swiss tech giant ABB, German conglomerate Siemens, and Chinese state-owned rolling stock manufacturer CRRC will attend the CIIF. Shanghai Electric Group will promote its 50,000-tonne green methanol project, which will become operational in Jilin province next year.

Some 723 domestic and foreign professional groups have made appointments to visit the CIIF, while the number of individual visitors will exceed 100,000, according to Li.

In addition, new scientific and technological products will be launched at the CIIF, including the new laser tube cutting machine of Germany's Trumpf, the long-arm robot of Shanghai-Fanuc Robotics, and the zero-contact flight welding solution of Nanjing-based Estun Automation Group.

The CIIF will also welcome 75 universities this year, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and 18 others from Shanghai.
