(Yicai Global) Sept. 28 -- More than 2,500 firms are expected to show off products at the inaugural China International Import Expo, which will take place in November in Shanghai.

Products from over 1,500 firms have arrived at ports across China while those from a further 1000 companies are expected to enter the country for the event, Commerce Ministry spokesperson Gao Feng said in a regular press conference.

The ministry will assist the expo's organizers with key processes such as design and staging, content review, inspection and quarantine, as well as personnel registrations and buyer-seller matchmaking, he said.

More than 2,800 companies from over 130 countries and regions have registered for the event, Gao said. Organizers will arrange will hold seven matchmaking meetings ahead of the expo as well as planfour integrated service areas. They will also work out the details for over 200 supplemental site events to actively promote extra matchmaking between buyers and sellers.
