(Yicai Global) July 6 -- Ningbo Orient Cable Co. [SH:603606] will purvey submarine cable and related hardware to an offshore wind farm project.

The company clinched the bid for the Dafeng Offshore Wind Farm Project of China Three Gorges New Energy Co. for USD26.5 million (CNY177 million).

The project will generate 10 percent of company revenue this year.

Orient Cable will supply a 50-kilometer length, 3x500 millimeter 2220 kilovolt undersea photoelectric composite cable and fittings for the project, per the announcement. The firm first achieved domestic production in August, and this will be the first industrial application of the product, per the statement. The windfarm lies in the north of China's southeastern Jiangsu province -- an area abundant in intertidal wind resources -- whose 9,500 kilometers of coastline and 6,000 kilometers of sandy beaches make up one-quarter of China's total.
