(Yicai Global) June 10 -- Zhuhai Orbita Aerospace Science & Technology  will provide the government of Zhuhai in China's southeastern Guangdong  province with satellite remote sensing data services.

The company, whose main business is provision of such services, received  the winning bid notice from the mainland city adjacent to Macau on June  6, Orbita announced today. The contract is worth CNY83.6 million (USD12  million).

Orbita will supply remote sensing products and services based on the Zhuhai  government's requirements, and whose scope includes natural resource  exploration, environmental and oceanographic monitoring, traffic  management, and environmental protection, per the announcement.

The company is creating a 'satellite space information platform' based on  micro and nano satellites that includes dozens of video and  hyper-spectral satellites, radar and infrared satellites, and ground  receiving and data distribution networks set up throughout China.

After its platform is complete, the company's data transmission and  receiving, storage and processing ability will reach 7,000 terabytes per  year, information on its website shows.
