(Yicai Global) April 24 -- China's radio and television sector achieved CNY564 billion (USD84 billion) revenue last year, up 16 percent from 2017.

The advertising business contributed CNY186 billion, up 13 percent, statistics the country's National Radio and Television Administration issued today show, which also indicate declining advertising on traditional over-the-air TV and radio and a rapid rise in promotional activities on their internet platforms.

Radio advertising revenue was CNY14 billion, down 9.8 percent from 2017's CNY15.6 billion. TV advertising revenue was CNY96 billion, down from CNY97 billion the year before.

Online media advertising revenue reached CNY49.2 billion, up 60 percent on the CNY31 billion in 2017, and making up 26.4 percent of total advertising revenue, up from 18.6 percent in that year.

Advertising online and via other new media has thus become a new revenue growth point.
