(Yicai Global) March 2 -- Smartphone maker OnePlus Co.'s flagship 5T handset is set to land in the Swedish market in March following a tie-up with local carrier Telia Company AB agreed at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The Shenzhen-based handset maker has appointed Telia as its partner in Sweden in a move integral to the firm's wider plans to expand its presence in the Nordic market, new outlet QQ Tech reported on its website.

The deal marks OnePlus' second such deal in northern Europe following an agreement made with Finnish telecoms firm Elisa Oyj in May 2016. The company has enjoyed strong sales in the Nordic market in recent years, becoming a top-seller and outperforming smartphone heavyweights like Apple and Samsung.

OnePlus' strong performance in the region is attributable to the rational decision-making among the Nordic people, said Liu Zuohu, CEO at OnePlus, adding that the market likes competitive quality products with elegant designs such as the firm's products.

Rather than going global like other Chinese smartphone brands, OnePlus has focused on international markets from the get-go, while continuing to develop in the domestic market. The firm's products now covering up to 32 countries and regions globally.
