Official Think Tank Urges China's 2017 Economic Growth Target Be Set at Around 6.5%

(Yicai Global) Dec. 12 -- A white paper released by an official Chinese think tank on Monday advises the Chinese government to set its 2017 target for economic growth at around 6.5 percent.

The research report by the macroeconomic situation task force of China's State Information Center appearing in China Securities Journal also suggests that the Chinese government should appropriately increase the fiscal deficit, ply a more proactive fiscal policy, and control the fiscal deficit rate at around 3.5 percent next year.

In March, Premier Li Keqiang noted in the 2016 Government Work Report delivered to the meeting of the National People's Congress that China's fiscal deficit rate will increase to three percent in 2016.

The Report also recommends that the total social financing and broad money growth should be kept at about 12 percent in 2017, and the rise of the consumer price index held at around 2.5 percent.
