(Yicai) June 21 -- The number of artificial intelligence companies in China has exceeded 4,000, with AI becoming a key driving force and strategic technology of a new technological revolution and industrial transformation, according to a new report.
China has built an AI technological system, an industry innovation ecosystem, and an enterprise union, the Chinese Institute of New Generation AI Development Strategies, set up by the Tianjin government and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in a report released yesterday at the ongoing World Intelligence Expo 2024.
The AI tech system includes large language models, infrastructure and operating systems, toolchains, deep learning platforms, and application technologies, the report showed. The effects of China's support for reshaping the industrial system and vigorously promoting new industrialization are gradually emerging.
AI has transformed and upgraded traditional industries, improved efficiency, and brought new industry development, said Liu Gang, chief economist at the institute. It has also optimized China's economic structure, realizing the shift to intensive development mode from the traditional extensive economy, Liu added.
The World Intelligence Expo, jointly organized by Tianjin and Chongqing and held in the former city between yesterday and June 23, includes 10 exhibition areas under the AI, provincial-level areas, and intelligent connected vehicles themes. It attracted 550 global exhibitors, including Huawei Technologies, Alibaba Group Holding, Tencent Holdings, Tesla, and Dell.
