(Yicai Global) March 31 -- Northeast China's first offshore wind power project is underway, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Three Gorges New Energy (Dalian) Power Generation Co., an affiliate company of China Three Gorges Corp., will set up the 300-megawatt power station and supporting facilities. It plans to install 73 wind turbines with individual capacities of 3 to 5 MW. A total of CNY5.14 billion (USD745 million) will be invested in the build.
The first batch of units are set to generate power and be connected to the grid in June 2018, and the remaining ones will be put into operation in 2019, said Wang Yiqun, deputy general manager of China Three Gorges Corp.'s subsidiary China Three Gorges New Energy Co. Constructions is expected to be finished within three years. The completed wind farm is expected to generate more than 700 million kilowatt-hours of on-grid energy a year.
