(Yicai Global) Aug. 30 -- Apple will release its newest iPhone model on Sept. 10 and may run green and purple editions, according to an insider at Foxconn, which makes and assembles phones for the smartphone giant.

The handset is an updated version of the iPhone XR, which will be available in seven colors and with slots for two SIM cards, the source said, adding that the firm has cancelled the special edition red version.

The California-based firm itself sent out invitations yesterday for a new product release event on Sept. 10 at the Jobs Theatre in Apple Park. It is expected to release several new products this year, including the latest iPhone, MacBook Pro and Apple Watch.
