(Yicai Global) Sept. 7 -- Beijing NavInfo Science and Technology Co. [SHE:002405], a leading Chinese sat-nav maker, will work with a Jiangxi-based electric car manufacturer to develop the Internet of Vehicles and supply for the latter's IoV platform.

NavInfo and Jiangxi AICEV Industrial Co. have signed a strategic cooperative agreement, the Beijing-based firm said on Sept. 7, adding that NavInfo will be an appointed supplier for Jiangxi Yiwei Automobile Manufacturing Co., a subsidiary of Jiangxi AICEV. The sat-nav manufacturer will also provide such services as map navigation, voice interaction, smart vehicle management and personalized entertainment.

The pair will also cooperate in autonomous driving, including environmental perception, automatic controls and decision-making algorithms, to promote autonomous vehicles and AICEV's cars. The two firms agreed to develop their international businesses and set up a global investment system for smart vehicles.

AICEV Industrial is a recently set-up smart electric vehicle maker. Fu Qiang, founder, once served as vice general manager for Audi sales at FAW-Volkswagen, a Chinese subsidiary of the German carmaker, and vice executive director of marketing for Skoda at SAIC-Volkswagen,  the group's other China subsidiary.

NavInfo claims to be an outstanding provider of digital maps and dynamic traffic information and in the Internet of Vehicles in China. It believes the agreement will help its brand and increase the market share of its IoV business.
