(Yicai Global) Sept. 2 -- Microsoft and Shenzhen-based property giant China Vanke have launched the Future City Lab in Shanghai to design urban management solutions for smart cities.
Microsoft and Vanke kicked off the research institution at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference on Aug. 30, the Shanghai Observer reported.
The lab will use cloud computing, Big Data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, to offer advanced technological solutions for all types of urban spaces. It will deal with smart homes, intelligent architecture, and smart logistics.
"We hope to set up a model project to speed up the integration of global technological innovation with urban planning and development, and provide people with a smarter and more convenient life," said Horace Chow, Microsoft's vice president and chief operating officer for China.
The project will share solutions and standards so that more of industry partners may join China's overall development, Chow added.
