Metro Joins Tmall; Tmall's Online Imported Food Selection Now China's Largest

(CBN - Global) April 21 -- German retailer Metro AG [FWB:MEO] has opened a store on Tmall, an online shopping platform run by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], making Tmall the largest online marketplace of imported foods in China.

"2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Metro's entry into the Chinese market. During these 20 years, Metro has continued to adjust and optimize its businesses, and has adapted its development strategy to the Chinese market. E-commerce sites such as Tmall are the new growth engines for Metro's development in China," said Mr. Xi Long, president of Metro China.

Other foreign supermarket chains such as Germany's Inferno and Spain's Dia will also launch stores on Tmall within the next three months, providing consumers with an even better selection of high-quality imported food products.
